THE PATH TO DEATH

Alfred, an old man with a thick mustache, who is almost bald.
Pietro, a middle aged man who is quite tall and wide.
Vienna, a 13 year old kid.
On a busy road, by the sidelines both of their eyes met. Alfred and Pietro recognized each other with a slight grim on their face. They greeted and started to search for the last person they were going to meet.
Chat:
Pietro: Did you wait long?
Alfred: Waiting can be fun. Btw where´s Vienna?
Pietro: She said she would sleep early for the big day.
Alfred and pietro waited long enough. Alfred stated,
´´ It is strange. She didn´ seem like a latecomer. Well, maybe she changed her mind. I won´t be surprised if she doesn´t show up.´´
Suddenly they saw a little girl signaling them. Alfred and pietro was surprised.
´´No way. She is just a child. How old was she?´´ barked Alfred.
Finally the little girl waved at them and called their names. Alfred could´nt believe it.
´´A child?!´´
The little girl came running at them. Yes, this little girl is Vienna. The girl greeted both of them casually like she had known them for years. She even gave them a warm hug. Seeing the girl´s excited funny little face, they welcomed her with their open hearts.
Chat:
Vienna: I don´t want to feel pain....
Alfred: In that case, the best way to die maybe by poisoning or sleeping pills.
Pietro: right.. Then I will bring some medicine which are expired.
Yes, the three of them were on a voyage to death. They met online and decided to meetup. They want to die together leaving all their miserable worries behind. Their lives hadn´t been that great. It is better to not tell the background of their lives, for it is very saddening. Alfred and Pietro were prepared to die. But both of them had their mind full of doubts with Vienna. As she is just a little girl, she cannot be properly willed to die. But seeing her cheeful face, they knew she couldn´t be stopped or convinced either. So, they played along. They went to a shady park. With none in the park, it seemed perfect for their plans. Pietro pulled out tons of expired pills from his bags. Pietro and Alfred were ready gobble on the pills. But Vienna refused. She hates pills and has been using liquid drugs all her life. Including her age, she is not experienced with pills.
´´ Then, how do you want to die?´´ said Alfred.
´´I don´t know. But not like this. This is boring.´´ said Vienna with a puffy face,
´´Then let´s not do it today. Let´s try again tomorrow with better ideas.´´ said Pietro with a lot of pauses. Seeming almost against the idea himself.
´´No no, I want to die today. Today´s gotta do it. Please.´´ cried Vienna.
Alfred and Pietro looked at each other and sighed hard.
Chat:
Alfred: I see.
Pietro: If you don´t care about the pain. Then jumping in front of the train is the quickest way.
Three of them headed to the train station. They bought the tickets and waited for the train to come.
´´ Listen, first I will jump. You push Vienna away and jump. We can´t let her die.´´ said Alfred to Pietro. The train will be arriving shortly. They eagerly waited. Soon the train came and they were getting ready. Just as the train came closer, a random man from the crowd jumped right in front of it. The man died instantly. Everyone screamed and a chaos broke out.
´´ Oh god. So, that´s how you turn out under the train.´´
´´Jumping in front of the train might not be the best way to go.´´ said Pietro.
After watching that, they gave up jumping in front of the train. And went back to the park.
´´It takes quite a lot to die, doesn´t it?´´ claimed Vienna.
´´Ḿaybe the reaper doesn´t have enough time for us.´´ said Alfred with a sad look.
Chat:
Alfred: Any other ways...
Pietro: Jumping off the building.
Alfred: It´s the same as jumping in front of a train. How about drowning?
Pietro: hmmmm
Vienna: I don´t want to get my clothes wet btw...
They couldn´t decide. Alfred took out a cigarette and said,
´´If you break the cigarette and eat it seperately, then...´´
´´That´s just disgusting.´´ said Vienna.
Three of them then started laughing. And Vienna out of the blue said,
´´I wish I could´ve gone for a train ride. I wish I could´ve gone somewhere far away.´´
´´Ok! Then let´s go ride on a train. Go somehwere far away.´´ said Alfred.
´´Yes. Let´s do something enjoyable before we die.´´ said Pietro.
Vienna was very happy and excited. And so they went for a train ride. They went to the furthest route in the train station.
They are in the train. Vienna was having the time of her life. Vienna comes from a poor family. She never rode on a train. As she saw the mountains and the greenery passing by her, she was mesmerized.
She kept telling Pietro, ´´Look, a river. Look, a mountain. Wow, it is so beautiful. Come here Pietro. Come look at this.´´ Pietro seeing her smile played along with her. And they both watched the sceneries ride along them. Alfred was asleep. He slept with his eyes open. But either way, he seemed to be having the most peaceful sleep in his life.
Chat:
Alfred: Shall we do it on the mountain?
Pietro: If you are gonna do it there, then you gotta go deep in the heart of it.
They found a forest in the city. It was by the riverside. Three of them hiked to the heart of the mountain. Vienna was enjoying everyhting. It is the first time, she had so many wonderful experiences in a single day.
Chat:
Pietro: Don´t use vines. They break easily. Bring ropes.
They found a tree. And started cutting ropes. Gathered rocks and toppled it up to make a support. The sun set, it was getting dark. Three of them had ropes tied over thir neck. Standing over a piles of rock, to let go any moment. Pietro made Vienna´s rope a little loose. So, that her rope would break and she would be saved.
´´Well, then the time has come. Pietro, give us the sign,´´ said Alfred.
´´Me? No way. You are the eldest. You give the sign.´´ said Pietro.
Suddenly, PIetro tripped over the rocks where he was standing, and he let go his support. Alfred and Vienna thought it was his signal. And both of them let go too. Three of them were getting strangled and choking hard. Especially Alfred and Pietro. Vienna´s ropes were too loose and she couldn´t feel pain. The branch couldn´t take the weight of the three of them anymore and it broke. Vienna´s ropes came off. Alfred and PIetro tripped from the mountain with the branch. They fell down the mountain. Vienna was scared and ran after them, but she couldn´t catch up. Left all alone, Vienna started to cry. It has been 8 minutes. Vienna was scared to death. But she can´t go down all by herself. The mountain was slippery and was dangerous for a little girl like Vienna. Waiting long enough, Vienna started to go down. Along the way, she slipped on the sand. As she was about to fall over, she closed her eyes. She slowly opened her eyes and saw large arms grabbing her tightly. It was pietro. Alfred was there too. They climbed all the way again for Vienna. Vienna terrified was now finally reliefed. She burst into tears. Seeing her, Alfred and Pietro realized that it wasn´t right to come here. As they were planning to die leaving young Vienna all by herself. They felt guilty. Alfred carried Vienna on his back and went down the mountain. Vienna on his back slowly said,
´´You know Alfred. I am really hungry´´ said it with a weak voice. Pietro was a rich man. So, he booked up a hotel. Three of them had dinner in the hotel. Vienna never had such luxury in her life. As they were going to die, the food had never been tastier. Later on, they even had the best sleep that night.
Chat:
Alfred: You have to make both your mnd and body fresh before you die.
Pietro: Last minute preparations?
The next day three of them had a dip in jacuzzi pool in the hotel. Vienna and Alfred had never been in a jacuzzi before. It was the most refreshing thing in their life.
´´Oh my. Oh, it really is heaven. This is most delightful.´´
´´Delightful? No! We are acting as if.....´´ said Alfred.
Chat:
Pietro: If you are going to kill yourself. Then maybe you should do something sensational before you die.
Vienna: That´s right
Alfred and Pietro stopped on the pool bar to drink beer. Vienna drank juice. Three of them cheered. Chatting with each other after a hot bath in a hotel almost made them forget about dying. They are about to leave the hotel. Three of them kept whatever they bought with them in a bag. Vienna had her clothes and toys, Pietro had his valuables and Alfred put food and his pills in the bag. They kept it in a sofa in the lobby and were busy paying in the counter. A shabby black man took the bag slowly and was about to leave. Just when Vienna noticed him and screamed ,
´´Hey, you?´´ Alfred and Pietro ran after the man. VIenna ran too. And the chase began. Pietro was the fastest and Alfred was the slowest. They ran half the city but couldn´t catch him. All their belongings were gone.
´´We lost him. But we were close. Weren´t we?´´ said Vienna.
´´That´s right. If we ever get to see him again..´´ said Pietro.
´´Huh, you will never see him again.´´ said Alfred having difficulty to talk. Alfred was an old man. That much running obviously made him tired. As he stood there, everything felt dizzy. His last pill was gone. Soon, he couldn´t stand upright anymore. And just as he was about to fall, Pietro grabbed him and lied him down.
´´Are you Ok? Here, your medicine.´´ said Vienna. Vienna had swaped the bottle of his medicine for a smaller bottle. So, that she could keep her clips. Alfred ate the pill and started to feel better.
´´ Say, what should we do to die this time?´´ said Vienna excited.
´´OK. Shall we go then?´´ said Alfred.
´´What, where? said Vienna with her eyes popping.
´´Somewhere far away.´´ said Alfred increasing his pitch a bit.
´´Are we riding the train again?´´ smiled Vienna.
´´Do you want to ride the bullet train?´´ said Alfred.
´´Whoopie´´ screamed Vienna. Pietro smiled too.
Chat:
Pietro: Yeah.
Alfred: The three of us together, right?
Vienna: The season should be fall.
They were going to the train station. Overjoyed, they sang along the way. Three of them were happy as if they had no more worries anymore. And as such, they kept going far away as wide as their eyes went.
Did they give up dying? Maybe they did or maybe not. Maybe they were still trying to die. Or maybe they just wanted to go far away leaving all their worries and problems behind. They just wanted to go further away. Maybe they finally found happiness.
